Reminds me of the calla lillies in Mom’s garden. As a child, I loved to take apart that tight central column of flowers (the spadix). Like a true Scottish lad, I thought the little insects I found on these flowers might be fairies. Aren’t aphids a form of fairy?

Yesterday, punctilious me missed one of my two city-sanctioned watering days. I attended church, a grad party, and then walked around the lake. Now it’s raining.
Call this one a Zacchaeus plum. I had to climb the tree to get a better view.

I believe this is Western Salsify. Gone to seed, it looks like a giant dandelion.
